About Me
I am an English Professor who currently lives in the Midwest and teaches at a small private university. I have taught at a large state university as well, but prefer the small campus and working closely with students. I also write creatively, poetry and novels, and this summer will attend a writer’s workshop at the University of Iowa. I have a lot of pets, including 5 dogs, 4 cats and 2 horses, and my hobbies include reading, writing, horseback riding, wine tasting and Turkish food.
How It Works
Send me your draft and I will provide a free written estimate on the amount of time it will take me to edit it. If you agree to hire me, the estimate will be the cost of the task, even if I exceed my projected time. If you decide to add more services to the initial agreement, the estimate will be adjusted accordingly and in agreement with you.
For copy editing, I can do a 250-page draft in approximately eight to ten hours. For Deep Structural edit, I expect the time to be closer to 15 to 20 hours, or longer. Smaller projects of 10 to 100 pages may take me from two to eight hours, depending on the density of the draft and the amount of work it requires. I evaluate each draft separately and price it depending on the specific work I see that it needs.
It takes me about 7 to 15 days to edit a 250-page draft, the time dependent if I do a copy edit or a deep structural edit. I will charge double for any work that requires a 48 hour turnaround time. If I am unable to do the work within two days, I will let you know when I can complete it and you can decide if you will use my services.
I will keep a time log of when I worked on the draft and how many pages I edit during that time frame. That log will be provided to you with my final invoice. I expect 50% of the payment at the time you contract me for my services and the final 50% when the job is completed. I guarantee my work and will revisit any draft, without charge, that does not meet your expectations. I accept payment through Pay Pal.
I edit all work in Word, using the comment bubbles, strikethrough and highlight features. To help me quickly and efficiently edit the draft (which saves you money), I request all drafts to be:
- Double spaced
- 12-point readable font (Times New Roman, Verdana, etc)
- Pages numbered
I also employ “assistant editors,” one who is a Linguistic Professor and writer, and another who edits academic articles for various publications. |
